Biolistic Method
The last and final method of genetic engineering can also be referred to as the gene gun method. It is quite common in genetically engineering plants. This method uses pellets of metal that is coated with the DNA you want to transfer. It is then fired at the plant cells. The cells that take up the DNA are then allowed to grow into new plants or may be cloned. This method has been quite successful in the plant engineering.
There is always some debate on it. As this newly inserted gene may be transferred to wild plants and may spread. Another reason people dislike it is because it is associated with genetically modified foods.
