My Opinion

In my opinion I believe genetic engineering has a lot of benefits and should not be dismissed totally but it is quite a concern at the rate we are going about it. We are going about it at a ridiculously fast speed. It should slow down a little bit and be more cautious and look more carefully at the effects. I believe it is quite a good idea as in the future it might find a cure for genetic diseases and cure cystic fibrosis and zlzheimer's disease which many people are affected by. It can reduce poverty and starvation in developing countries as it crops will produce more yield and also it will reduce the Vitamin A deficiency in those partcular countries. Choosing particular traits in organisms including human babies I believe should not be allowed unless they have a heridetary disease in which they people have the right to live live happily. Designer babies such as choosing whether it is male or female, athletic or smart I believe is against nature. Developments that will help and benefit society such as breakthroughs like spray-on skin are important but we have to think about the consequences and effects about what we are doing. Like I mentioned we could be creating another Frankenstein's monster or the cane toad that has devasted areas in the northern parts of Australia like Queensland.
